I can’t tell you how cool it is to have an owner, Cindi, want to learn to be a better horseman. On the days that she comes over to see Thunder we are working on her horsemanship skills. It takes a measure of humility to acknowledge that there are skills you need but don’t have. Cindi is doing really well. The skills that we teach are important to the continued improvement of the horse when he goes home.
One of the three principles we teach is Control. Yes, it is important to be able to control the horse and his movements, but more important then that, to me, is the ability to control our own emotions as well as our body movements. This takes the magic pill, time, too and it is easy to get frustrated and disappointed in yourself if you don’t realize it takes time. You can see it in Thunder when these things are in place. We have a long way to go but we are well on our way.

Leo is doing well. We have been working on respect in the round pen, and getting him to catch me. I can’t tell you how important it is that a horse learns and understands this skill so you are able to catch him anywhere, not just in the round pen. Leo, right now, has little or no need for humans and he is resisting giving up his place in the herd, but he is now starting to come to me in the round pen, when asked and beginning to want to be with me rather then work. These are all good signs of progress..
