Today Leo heads for home. Donna, his owner, has asked that I get her started on a riding program for him and she wants to come back in a couple of weeks and work with me again. Then in April we have a clinic scheduled in the Membres Valley and she has already scheduled time to work with me there. Leo has been a challenged but he has been a lot of fun. It is truly rewarding when you meet a horse that is shy, nervous and a little frightened, relax and try. But even more rewarding, for me, is to find an owner who really wants to be a better horseman and is willing to work at it. Not just when they are here but when they go home. I’m looking forward to seeing how well they both do in the weeks and months ahead.
Thunder had a really good day with his owner yesterday as well. Cindi worked with Thunder on a new skill of stepping up to the rail so that Cindi can mount from the rail. You may be thinking, big deal. Well if you have ever seen one of my horses or a horse that I have taught to step to the rail you would understand why it is such a big deal. It’s easy to teach but the benefits are pretty cool.
Casino had his second day of hobble training yesterday and did so much better then the day before. He continues to make good progress and to settle down as well. More of the same for him for the next couple of days.
Wind again today, so that means more ground work. I hate to ride when it’s real windy and so do the horses..
Will try and keep you updated with info on what the heck I'm doing with horses and music.
