Can you believe it? Spring is here and the year is almost half over, unreal. Kathy and I are working on the Cowboy Man Bar. We have been selected to take Herb and his product to the Walnut Valley Festival in Sept. Herb will need about 1,800 Man Bars to make sure he has enough for the gig, so it won’t be long and he will be hard at work out in the bunk house getting ready.
April 14th and 15th will be our two day clinic in the Mimbres Valley. Kathy and I are getting excited about that. Then the first week in May we will be doing another clinic, a private one, there again. We are working on a clinic with Tim and some folks in T or C, and, we are working with the feed store in town to put on a demo at their store. To say the least, this spring is going to be a busy one.
I’m going to be taking Casino with us to the clinic on the 14th for his owner to work with him. I’m pretty excited to see how he does when we change the location of his work. It seems to always bring out the holes in a horse when you ask him to perform the skills he has learned at home in a new place. I confident that he will be fine but time, the magic pill, will tell.
Today I have riding lessons in the morning. I use Casino during these lessons so that he gets ridden a little more and he is around other horses. This being around other horses is a good test for him. They want to visit when they get together and I don’t let them. See for me it’s like taking your girl to a dance and letting every other guy in the place sniff on your girl. I would not let that happen with Kathy and I’m sure not going to let it happen with my horses. It also teaches the horse that he came to the dance with me and, he better pay attention to me, not some other horse. You may think that sound strange but it works. It keeps horses from getting in to fights in a confined area with me in the saddle and just makes it much safer.
Will try and keep you updated with info on what the heck I'm doing with horses and music.
