Charlie and I spent the morning in the arena working on his turns and stopping. I think that it is amazing at how much your horse will remember if you stop at the right time durning you're training and reward. Time spent with your horse is so important but there are times when less is more, and by that I mean, sometimes less time is more. If you are trying to get your horse, lets say to stop, and he does it, I mean he really does it well, and you continue to drill him on it, without let up, what do you think will happen? You're right. Just like us, he will get tired of it and will start resisting, and maybe even fight the work. But if you get your horse to do the exercise really well, and he does it, and you stop, get off, and lead him back to the barn, the next time, maybe not tomorrow, but the next time you ask him, in this case to stop, hang on cause he is going to really make the effort. So take your time. Training is teaching, it's not just working with your horse. If you learn that, you will be amazed at what you can get done with your horses.
Will try and keep you updated with info on what the heck I'm doing with horses and music.
