Yesterday everyone that got worked got a shower. It’s been so cold that soaking a horse in water did not make much sense, but yesterday was a dandy day and when we were finished they got a soakin.
Rode Leo for the first time yesterday. It’s taken so long to get around to this because of his being so nervous, but he is doing better. Well enough that I felt ok about climbing aboard. He did really, really well. He is riding in my secret weapon bit. I have mentioned it before and a few people asked about it and they have the info, but not many people asked. Leo’s mom comes today and I hope that the wind will let us ride a bit.
Thunder got some ground work and then when he was finished I took him and Leo for a ride in the trailer. Both owners wanted to make sure that they would get along in a trailer together in case they rode home together. They did just fine.
Casino started hobble training yesterday. This is something that all horses go thru here at the ranch. I have talked about how it is really good for them. How it teaches them to not get excited if they get their feet caught in something. How it teaches them to wait till I get there to get them out, but the other thing it does for horses is teaches them that I can control their feet, even if I’m not standing right there all the time. Casino is a little nervous and hobbles will teach him to stand and think rather then react.
All in all a good day yesterday. Had a riding lesson before all of this got started so was a busy day.
Will try and keep you updated with info on what the heck I'm doing with horses and music.
