Yesterday took G on a long ride from Ted's to my house...not far by miles about 4 but up and down hills... mountains....cross creeks and in the brush... did good... was a little nervous at times but did not do anything to get himself, or me, hurt....May take another long ride today, will see... there are other things that I would like for him to have before he goes home but there is only so much you can get done in a little over 30 days... G is a lot of horse for his size. I hope that Norma and Jerry will be up for the challenge when he gets home.... When we got back to the barn... I had to take the trailer over to my house to bring him and the other horses back to Ted's. Marge and Alice rode with me, he loaded in the trailer like a champ.. a little nervous but that's G. When I got him back to the barn and went to take off his bosal.. he freaked... when he got here he was a little head shy but we have been working on that and he was doing great, but yesterday it was like I had never touch his head or ears till yesterday... so it took me about 10 min. to get his head stall off.... I could have jerked it off but that would not have helped him with this problem... so we took our time.. After I got it off I put a hauler back on him and tied him to the rail for awhile... When I went back to untie him he acted like nothing had ever happened... let me take the halter off with out a problem... so that's what I mean about challenge... one day it's ok the next it's not.... He will need a owner who has the time to spend with him. I know he can over come all of his issues if he is given enough time....
I am often asked how long it will take for a horse to get over a problem or how long will it take to get my horse to do whatever.... We, people, want things to happen NOW! We want results... and I do too... however horses don't work like that... We want a magic pill that we can give our horses and they will be fixed or will be doing what we want... and you are going to find this hard to believe but I have that magic pill... The problem is most people, owners, are not willing to swallow that pill. That pill? is TIME.... A horse, given enough time, will adjust to whatever we ask him to... but it takes time... Owners are not willing to swallow that pill... because of money, effort or some other issue... but if you will give your horse that pill he will m
Will try and keep you updated with info on what the heck I'm doing with horses and music.
