I got an email from a lady that I have been helping with a horse about a horse she use to have and has back again. Not sure all the details about why she got the horse back, no really bad reason, I think the other folks could not take care of her anymore, anyway she asked if I knew of anyone that would be interested. I told her I would mention it to the folks that read the blog, all of you out there in blogger land. She is a half arab, white and 14 or so hands. She is a looker so if you are interested email me and I will pass on the info to you.
Kathy and I have an old boy here, in the picture above. I got him for a client. He was twenty three when I got him. Ranch raised used for every facet of ranch work, and with that kind of age on him I thought he would have seen everything and would be a nice slow horse. Man was I wrong. When I first rode him he was a going machine. He would spin on a dime and I mean spin. I quickly realized that he was not the horse for the person I had got him for. So I kept him and used him a little around the ranch, gathering cattle and the like. I used him for a couple of pack trips. I had no idea if he had ever been packed off of, but he sure acted like he had been doing it all his life. Trouble is the places that I was packing to, and the long days in the saddle gathering cattle were a lot of work for him. He would just wear out, his age. So I have been trying to find him a home, somewhere, where he can retire. We don't have pasture here, not that he would need that, but I would just like him to have a place to go where no one would expect too much out of him, a little trail ride from time to time would do him just fine, but, it's hard to find a place for an old guy to go. He has put in his time and I just think it's time for him to get to take it easy. He dose that here. I don't ride him hardly at all now, just every now and again so he can get out and stretch a little. Anyway, I don't think I have ever talked about Jet, that's his name, and he sure deserves a mention.
Been working on getting a follow up clinic going for the folks in the Valley. I think they would enjoy a two day clinic, I think that they get a lot more out of it, and have a few takers so am hoping that will work out. Have a few in Deming NM that want to do a clinic too but need a couple more folks to make that happen, and it will.
Am hoping to get to do a few more demonstartions on round penning and trailer loading before the year is over. Still looking for folk who are willing to take the chance and have us over. That takes a little. Folks don't know who you are or what your all about till they get a chance to see you work, and that will happen too.
I better get to it, coffee that is.
Will try and keep you updated with info on what the heck I'm doing with horses and music.
