Neighbor checking his cows!
Spent parts of a couple of days looking for some cattle that got out on my neighbor. This country is so incredible to ride and see. He is missing 4 head. I did not find them but did find where they were getting out. We will move, the rest of the cattle, tomorrow from the pasture they are in, to a new pasture to the West. We have not had any rain in months and the ranchers in our area are having a time of it.
In my travels I found an old mine shaft that was some where around 50 feet deep. Had the old timbers still in the opening, was pretty cool. Then I found a mining claim. I have heard of people still staking a mining claim but had not seen a modern day claim. Was registered in Oct of 2011 by a fella from Sliver City NM.. was interesting.
Tucson continues to make good progress. I had two students here on Thursday and took them for a 6 mile ride and Tucson led the way. He is really starting to move forward and building his confidence. We worked on some leg yielding down the rail on Friday, as well as circles. He is starting to understand collection on his own. This is because of how I teach him to keep his nose inside the circle when we are working. I think he is going to make his owner a fine trail horse.
Is 15 degrees here this morning. That’s pretty cold for us. Should be in the 60's my noon. So I think I will have another cup of coffee and wait for the sun to hit the barn before I venture out.
Will try and keep you updated with info on what the heck I'm doing with horses and music.
