Our Dirt Tank
The picture to the left here is the dirt tank just below the house. I don't think it's had any water in it for nearly 2 years. As soon as the water hit the tank you could here the frogs coming alive. Looks like we may have more chances of rain this week, and we could sure use it.
I needed to go to town for the mail and thought I would take a ride up to Kingston NM. They evacuated this little town during the Silver fire and I wanted to see what I could see. Back behind the town you could see where the fire had burnt off all the timber. I was just black with black trees, or what is left of them.
The big rain we had caused Percha Creek to run. The picture above shows the black soot and ash that was brought down from the mountains. This picture was taken just as I was coming back to Hillsboro NM.
Folks are a little worried that we may get a really big rain. There is nothing to slow down the water up there and it could cause a lot of problems and damage down stream.
Worked with the Gray, horse back and he is making really good progress. He is still a little jumpy but I think that will go away in time.
Riding lessons today with Mary.
Will try and keep you updated with info on what the heck I'm doing with horses and music.
