Old what's his name!
Started out with a plan to ride a couple of horses, but when I got over there and got started I realized I was still pretty week from the plague. So I just rubbed around on them for a couple of hours then came home and took a nap. This stuff, whatever it is, sure takes the stuffing out of a guy.
Kathy is going to ride in this clinic. This is really great news cause she has only ridden once in the past 3 years or so, because of her back. She rode in a clinic we did last summer in Deming NM and she did great, better then either one of us thought she would. So, I’m very excited to have her in the clinic coming up this weekend.
Fear is a very strong and powerful force. I think that we would all agree with that. And it can really prevent us from being better horsemen. I have worked with lots of folks that have either gotten bucked off at some point in their lives and are afraid to ride again, or I have had people that were attacked by a horse, ran over the list goes on. The thing that I have found true in all cases is the fear that they have now makes the time that they spend with horses, that they love, very hard. How can we make that better? Good question. The best way I have found is to show people in this place how to be a leader. Once they know that they have skills that the horse will respect, their confidence comes up, and once they realize that they can get a horse to do what they ask from the ground, it don’t take long until they are ready to ride or groom, or do any of the other things that they have been afraid of for so many years. Yes, fear is a powerful emotion but when it comes to horses, it can be over come with the magic pill, time.
Will try and keep you updated with info on what the heck I'm doing with horses and music.
