Pat Jones on the right. RIP.
Today will be a sad day here on the Ranch. A good neighbor and friend will be laid to rest. Pat Jones. When we first came to this country folks would not use me to work cattle on their ranches. I’m guessing cause I was not from here and no one knew me, and I got that, but Pat Jones gave me a chance. I have helped Pat with his cattle for the past 6 or so years we have been here and, other ranchers, after seeing me work or talking with Pat, have asked me to work for them.
Pat gave me my first shot at team roping at his arena. I remember the first time I showed up at his arena with my horse, he did not know who I was, I told him that one of my neighbors had told me that I could come down and he would show me how to rope. He looked at me and said. “Well, get the hell down here, you can’t rope from your truck”! So began my friendship with Mr. Jones.
Pat was a big supporter of Kathy and I and our clinics and horse training. He hosted a clinic for us at his arena one year and was always there to help with getting the arena ready or anything else we might need.
Pat had a big voice. You could here him a mile away. I'm going to miss that voice.
Will try and keep you updated with info on what the heck I'm doing with horses and music.
