Asking her to trust me!
Had a good day with Bitsy yesterday. She is doing her groundwork better and better. She is starting to trust a little more everyday. She is standing to be saddled and unsaddled without much trouble. Stands and waits for me to get the saddle from the saddle room, so that is all very good. Yesterday was the first day that I put her bridle on. She is not really sure about that whole process yet but we are getting her use to it and I think she will adapt to it just fine in time.
She still is a little freaked out about the flag. She wants to run but once she sees that I’m not trying to hurt her with it and that she gets to stand and rest, She settles. She sure watches but she does not run off and that's what I’m looking for.
There are a lot of things that will happen to a horse, not only during the process of training, but the rest of her life. Her natural instinct is to run. What we are asking our horses to do is, resist the urge, and a strong one it is, to run. Some horses figure that out sooner then others. Bitsy is one of those others. She is getting there a little at a time.
Will try and keep you updated with info on what the heck I'm doing with horses and music.
