Marge second from the right on Barz her favorite horse to ride.
Was a very sad day yesterday, and still a sad one this morning.
Kathy and I took our daughter Montana to the airport yesterday. She had been with us over a month and she felt it was time for her to get back to her world. You will remember that she was in a snowmobile accident and nearly lost her life. We are so blessed to still have her with us and, it has been a joy to have her here with Kathy and I. We already miss her around here. Wally and Kevin, our dogs, sit outside the bunk house door waiting for her to come out and greet them. I do too.
When we got home from the airport we got a message that told us my saddle pal had passed away. Marge. Some of you will remember me writing about her awhile back when she had to stop riding because of her back. She spent the past couple of years trying to get some relief from the pain that she suffered, from doctors, but there was nothing they could do to help. The pain and all that goes with it was more then she could do.
I was blessed and honored to have gotten to spend time with Marge horseback. She and I spent a lot of time together helping to gather cattle and all that goes along with that. Long days. Hot, cold windy days. Not once did I ever hear her complain about any of the bad stuff. She loved cowboy-ing and she became a darn good hand. She and I had our share of adventures. Packing into the backcountry to the Buffalo Solider Memorial in the wildness area here in the Gila National Forest a couple of times. We went places we probably shouldn’t have and saw things that few people ever will. She was fearless.
Her husband, children and grandchildren have a huge hole in their world. Hell, anybody who knew her will.
There are no words, that I know of, to express the sorrow Kathy and I feel. Saying we'll miss her just does not seem like enough, but we will.
I am proud to have known her and even prouder to have called her my friend.
Will try and keep you updated with info on what the heck I'm doing with horses and music.
